Children’s classes at KBF Academy.

A fundamental part of our school is welcoming children into the club. We have a full children’s syllabus that has been approved by the World Association of Kickboxing Organisation (WAKO) and takes children from white to black belt. Our children’s classes start at age 4 and are split into three groups.

Childrens Classes

Our children’s classes are at the heart of our club. We train children from age 4 through to 15 in both points and continous kickboxing. We run varied lessons including kickboxing pad routines, weapons, self defence, break falls and sparring. All our lessons have kickboxing at the core but have a rolling curriculum to allow the students to learn new skills to enhance their martial arts experience.

Kickboxing offers numerous benefits for children, both physically and mentally. Engaging in this dynamic martial art helps young participants develop essential life skills while promoting overall well-being.

The Benefits

  1. Physical Fitness: Kickboxing is a full-body workout that enhances cardiovascular health, strength, flexibility, and coordination. Children develop strong muscles and improve their endurance, which contributes to their overall physical fitness.
  2. Self-Discipline and Focus: The structured nature of kickboxing requires children to follow instructions, maintain discipline, and focus on their techniques. These qualities translate into better concentration and self-control in other areas of life, such as academics.
  3. Confidence and Self-Esteem: As children progress in kickboxing, they achieve new skills and reach personal goals, boosting their confidence. The sense of accomplishment they gain from mastering techniques and earning belts can significantly enhance their self-esteem.
  4. Self-Defense Skills: Kickboxing teaches practical self-defense techniques, giving children the tools to protect themselves if necessary. This knowledge fosters a sense of security and empowerment.
  5. Stress Relief: Physical activity, especially one as intense as kickboxing, is an excellent outlet for stress. Children can release pent-up energy and emotions in a controlled environment, helping them manage stress and anxiety better.
  1. Social Skills and Teamwork: In kickboxing classes, children interact with peers, learn to respect others, and often participate in partner drills. These interactions help them develop social skills, teamwork, and a sense of camaraderie.
  2. Goal Setting and Perseverance: Kickboxing involves setting goals, such as mastering a new technique or earning a higher belt rank. Children learn the importance of perseverance and hard work as they strive to achieve these milestones.
  3. Respect and Courtesy: Martial arts, including kickboxing, emphasize respect for instructors, peers, and the art itself. Children learn to be polite, wait their turn, and show respect in and out of the training environment.
  4. Improved Mental Resilience: Facing challenges in kickboxing, such as sparring or learning complex moves, teaches children to push through difficulties. This resilience is invaluable in helping them navigate life’s challenges.

Ages 4-6 (Little Ninjas)

This fun filled and well structured class is specifically designed for 4-6 years. The sessions last for 45 minutes, with regular intervals and cover techniques, pad work and activities which encourage improved coordination, balance and hand eye coordination.

The purpose of this class is to develop these young martial artists to the jump up to our cadets class when they are able.

We also focus on discipline, respect and focus which the children can take with them in to every day life.

The children will be sure to grow in confidence and make life long friends along the way.

Ages 7-11 (cadets)

The cadets sessions are dynamic classes, and are often split in to beginners and advanced to allow the students to progress at the suitable pace for them. These classes are designed to start with

The cadets sessions include pad and bag work, partner work applying techniques and combinations, and points sparring. Our advanced kick-boxers are also introduced to continuous sparring.

11+ (teens)

Our teens classes really step up the pace, and apply everything that has been learnt, often in partners and groups. These sessions are also usually split in to beginners and advanced and has a big focus on fitness and conditioning to get the students up to peak condition.

There is a good mixture of skills that we work on, with dynamic pad work routines, combinations with our partners or groups, points and continuous sparring and technical work.

Brilliant KB club - both my boys look forward to their weekly classes (unlike swimming lessons) and have seen really great development in terms of their skills and confidence in a fairly short time of attending (approx 3months). Coaches are supportive and positive and it's a really good environment for all abilities and confidence levels.

My son and daughter (age 8 and 10) go to Kickbox Fit and they both love it. This is a really great club. Very friendly with a number of expert instructors who do a fantastic job of teaching the kids while making the sessions fun. Highly recommend KBF to any parent with children who want to learn kickboxing or any kind of self defence.

My little boy loves it there, all of the coaches and instructors are really helpful and doing really good job! We have tried many different clubs but this one they really focus on children and their abilities helping them to develop their skills! My little one also loves the way they are practicing as it is not repetitive and coaches really have something new to teach them!

KBF is a fantastic community based club, the whole team are friendly and make you feel part of the KBF family in no time at all, it’s a no pressure club and you don’t feel like you’ve got your hand in your pocket all the time paying for every move you make, very good prices and you learn everything in class you need to belt grade without added on seminars at extra cost like the previous club my son attended, the instructors are very tactful and don’t just tell every student how amazing they are just to keep them attending, they always give constructive criticism in the right ways and have massively improved my son’s ability, highly recommend KBF, your kids will get great results from KBF the more efforts they put themselves 👍
