FAQ's

Do I need experience?

Kickboxing is a martial art that combines punches, kicks, and footwork for fitness, self-defense, or competition. It’s suitable for all ages and fitness levels, whether you’re looking to get fit, learn new skills, or compete.
No prior experience is necessary! We offer beginner-friendly classes where you can learn the basics of kickboxing at your own pace.

Am I too old to start kickboxing?

it is never too late to start kickboxing. All of our classes are welcoming and supportive which makes starting with us much easier. We also have an over 50’s class if you are within that age group.

What should I wear to my first class?

Wear comfortable, breathable workout clothes like a t-shirt and gym shorts or leggings. We train barefoot so trainers won’t be required.

Do I need to bring any equipment to start?

For your first class, you usually don’t need any equipment—just bring water and a towel. Over time, you’ll need gloves, hand wraps, shin guards, and a mouthguard, which we can help you choose.

Is kickboxing safe?

Yes! Kickboxing is safe when practiced under the supervision of qualified instructors. We emphasize proper technique, controlled movements, and the use of protective gear to minimize risks.

What happens in a typical kickboxing class?

Classes usually begin with a warm-up, followed by technique drills, combinations, partner work or pad work, and finish with a cool-down or conditioning exercises. Some classes may also include optional sparring.

Can I try a class before committing?

Absolutely! We offer trial classes for new members so you can experience kickboxing first-hand before deciding to join.

How long are the classes?

Most classes are 45 minutes to an hour.

What age groups do you cater to?

We offer classes for both children and adults. Kids’ classes start from age 4, while adult classes are suitable for ages 16 and up.

Are classes separated by skill level?

Yes, we have beginner, and advanced classes for children. The adults classes are all mixed ability.

How much does membership cost?

Pricing varies depending on the membership plan.. We offer monthly memberships, and family discounts. Contact us directly for detailed pricing.

Are there discounts for families or multiple classes?

Yes! We offer discounted rates for families and for members who attend multiple classes each week.

What is your cancellation policy?

For memberships, please review our terms for cancellation or freezing your account.

Do I have to spar or compete?

No, sparring and competition are optional. Many members train kickboxing purely for fitness and self-defence. If you’re interested in sparring, we provide safe, controlled environments for practice.

How do I get involved in competitions?

Talk to your instructor! Once you’ve built the required skills and confidence, we can guide you through the process of training for and participating in local, national, or international competitions.

What protective gear is needed for sparring?

Sparring requires headgear, gloves, shin guards, a gum shield, and a groin guard (for men). Your instructor will provide specific recommendations for safe gear.

What are the benefits of kickboxing for kids?

Kickboxing improves fitness, coordination, confidence, and discipline. It also teaches respect, focus, and self-defence skills in a safe and structured environment.

How do you ensure kids’ safety during classes?

Kids’ classes emphasize controlled movements, proper technique, and non-contact drills. For sparring (if applicable), we use full protective gear and maintain strict supervision.

What should my child bring to class?

Comfortable workout clothes and water. We train in bare feet. As they progress, they’ll need gloves, shin guards, and a gum shield.

Can I train if I have a medical condition or injury?

Please consult your doctor before starting any new exercise program. Let our instructors know about any conditions or injuries, and we’ll modify exercises to suit your needs.

How often should I train?

For beginners, 2-3 times per week is a good starting point. As you progress, you can train more frequently depending on your goals.

Brilliant KB club - both my boys look forward to their weekly classes (unlike swimming lessons) and have seen really great development in terms of their skills and confidence in a fairly short time of attending (approx 3months). Coaches are supportive and positive and it's a really good environment for all abilities and confidence levels.

My son and daughter (age 8 and 10) go to Kickbox Fit and they both love it. This is a really great club. Very friendly with a number of expert instructors who do a fantastic job of teaching the kids while making the sessions fun. Highly recommend KBF to any parent with children who want to learn kickboxing or any kind of self defence.

My little boy loves it there, all of the coaches and instructors are really helpful and doing really good job! We have tried many different clubs but this one they really focus on children and their abilities helping them to develop their skills! My little one also loves the way they are practicing as it is not repetitive and coaches really have something new to teach them!

KBF is a fantastic community based club, the whole team are friendly and make you feel part of the KBF family in no time at all, it’s a no pressure club and you don’t feel like you’ve got your hand in your pocket all the time paying for every move you make, very good prices and you learn everything in class you need to belt grade without added on seminars at extra cost like the previous club my son attended, the instructors are very tactful and don’t just tell every student how amazing they are just to keep them attending, they always give constructive criticism in the right ways and have massively improved my son’s ability, highly recommend KBF, your kids will get great results from KBF the more efforts they put themselves 👍
